Test a mailbox integration

Check a connected mailbox can still sign in with Test connection, then send yourself a real message with Send test email before you start a campaign.

Before a campaign goes out, check that the mailbox works. The integration's Test tab has two checks.

Before you start

Test connection

  1. Open Integrations and click Manage on the integration.
  2. Go to the Test tab.
  3. Under Connection check, click Test connection.

Signalsant checks that your default sender can still sign in. For SMTP it logs in to your server; for Gmail and Outlook it checks that access is still granted. No email is sent.

You'll see "Connection verified", or the provider's error ("Connection failed" if it gives none).

Send a test email

  1. On the same tab, find Send a test email.
  2. Check From, which starts as the default sender, and the Sender name.
  3. Enter an address you can open in Send to.
  4. Optionally change Subject (optional) and Message (optional). If you leave them empty, the subject is "Test email from" followed by the integration's name, and there's a short confirmation message.
  5. Click Send test email.

This sends a real email through the integration. You'll see "Test email sent to" followed by the address you entered. Check that inbox, and its spam folder.

You can also open this tab from the ⋯ menu on the integration's card: choose Send test email.

Troubleshooting

  • "Add a sender first — the check runs as your default sender.": add a sender on the Senders tab.
  • "Failed to test connection" / "Failed to send test email": check that the integration is switched on. A switched-off integration can't send.
  • "Connection failed" on SMTP: check Details → SMTP settings. See Connect any mailbox with SMTP.
  • "Access was revoked": reconnect the mailbox. See Reconnect a mailbox.
  • The test email lands in spam: see Improve deliverability.
