Senders and the default sender

Senders are the From addresses on a mailbox integration. Add or remove them, choose the default, and pick which one each email campaign sends from.

On this page

A sender is a From address on an integration. One integration can have several senders, for example a Google Workspace mailbox and its aliases. One sender is the default, marked with a star.

Before you start

You need the Moderator role or higher to change senders. Any team member can view them.

Add a sender

  1. Open Integrations and click Manage on the integration.
  2. Go to the Senders tab.
  3. Enter the address and, if you like, a Label (optional), such as the name recipients should see.
  4. Click Add, or press Enter.

The first sender you add to an integration becomes its default automatically.

Use only addresses your provider lets you send as, such as your own address or a verified alias. Signalsant doesn't send a verification email, so if the provider won't send as an address, the mail fails when it's sent.

Change the default sender

On the Senders tab, open the ⋯ menu next to an address and choose Set as default.

The default sender is the address used for:

  • Test connection;
  • the From field on Send test email;
  • the From field of a new campaign that uses this mailbox.

Remove a sender

Open the ⋯ menu next to the address and choose Remove. If you remove the default, the most recently added remaining sender becomes the default.

You can't edit an address or label in place. Remove the sender and add it again instead.

Choose a sender for a campaign

In a campaign's email channel, pick the Mailbox under Send from. The From field starts with that mailbox's default sender, and you can choose another of its senders there.

If you see "This integration has no sender identities yet — add one from the Integrations page", add a sender first. See Set up a campaign's channel and audience.

Troubleshooting

  • The Test connection button is disabled: add a sender first. The check runs as your default sender.
  • Emails fail from one address but not another: the provider probably doesn't let your account send as that address. Add it as an alias in Gmail or Microsoft 365 first.
